I have been going through Arp and Madore’s Souther Peculiar Galaxies Catalog looking for objects that I can observe from my home in Fort Davis Texas. I was surprised at how many objects are within reach from my +30 location. AM 1316-240 is a compact group with four galaxies that got my attention. I really like compact galaxies groups and wondered why Hickson did not include it in his catalog.

The big edge on galaxy is ESO 508-43 the fuzz ball to the right is LEDA 790153 the small edge on on the top left is 2MFGC 10641 and the little galaxies below it is not cataloged. I was surprised that this group is higher than M83 and should be in reach for most observers. I have not tried this group yet but plan on observing it when the moon gets out of the way. I hope you will try it too. I do not know of any observations of it yet. I will post what I see next week.

    Give It a GO!
    Good Luck and Great Viewing
