Western Veil Nebula - NGC 6960

Yesterday I barely finished my attempt to scan the fine sketch of NGC 6960.

After observation and sketching the Eastern part of the Veil (http://www.deepsky-visuell.de/Zeichnungen/Cirrus_27.htm) I had the desire to finish the brighter part with the Western part. Observation was during two nights under dark and transparent mountain skies here in southern Germany. I did not look at the clock but the observation time was around 5-6 hour's. Unfortunately the scan cannot represent the original paper sketch, especially the small 1000x707px version. Also the sketch showed little less detail what could be detected at the telescope because of the small scale of the paper (30x42cm). So feel free to open the larger version I linked at the end. it's amazing, congratulations for your masterpiece!
Did you use a sheet with the stars already designed as landmarks or did you draw it at the eyepiece?

After one attempt (Rosette Nebula (http://www.deepsky-visuell.de/Zeichnungen/NGC2237_16.htm)) to sketch the rough sketch in the field into a sheet of stars I decided to stop this technique for the very detailed and large sketches because the ornate work in the field.
This time I sketched the fine sketch on a paper with the brightest stars printed on, so I don't miss the right scale. In addition to this I sketched all fainter stars which were visible in the field on the rough sketch and take on these stars into the fine sketch (for example the nice second faint star in the very close to 52 Cyg - see better resolution sketch). I also took some field pattern to detect the limiting magnitude so that the stars in the fine sketch match approximately with the visible stars through the filter. Than I sketched all stars on the fine sketch with a classic pen, no printed stars at all. This procedure (I don't count the stars) alone took me 1,5 hour's but I wanted also a realistic star field.
The only thing what could never be realistic is the size of the object and the impossibility to see the object as a whole. With the used eyepieces (13mm+17mm) I got around 0,5' field which meet the distance of the northern end (in the sketch left side) to 52 Cyg, or around one third of the object length.

In earnest - I don't plan Pickering's Wisp. It was hard enough to produce a fine sketch here (mosaic from four scans) and the rework was horrible. Of course a mosaic from the whole Veil Complex would be a cool thing but I fear a thing without an end.
My idea was to start a whole mosaic with the 8". It was fun to re-observe the Veil with that aperture and I was amazed what detail the "small" 8" showed.
