Koposov-I- Milky Way Globular

Small globular in Virgo discovered in 2007 and definitely off the beaten path!

Wikipedia: "Koposov I and Koposov II were described by their discoverers as the "lowest luminosity globular clusters orbiting the Milky Way," along with AM 4, Palomar 1, and Whiting 1.

At 450x and a 22", Koposov-I showed as a hazy, faint glow around a faint star. No resolution.

Distance= 157.5 kly (48.3 kpc)
Apparent magnitude (V)=14.20

Koposov II is in Gemini and much fainter. Better challenge for imagers.

Koposov 2 globular cluster in Gemini
48” at 488x - Very faint small round even surface brightness glow. Popped in and out, 75% of the time. About 0.3’ across.


Koposov 1 globular cluster in Virgo
48” at 488x - Some speckling was detected around a considerably bright very small fuzzy star in the center.
