Just read about this on CN so I thought I'd share it here.
I managed to look at 1296 just as recently as 06SEP and didn't notice the SN. But then again, I didn't know to look. It was discovered in early August so I'm sure it's dimmed considerably since then.
Did anyone manage to spot it near its peak?
