What are your spring challenge objects list?

This is a few objects from my list.

PKS 0521-36 (see the jet)

SHK 76 (Bama galaxy cluster)

Twin quasar lens in CV not the bright one in UMa (12 06 29 +43 32 17) Z 1.789

Quasar crash in Vir (12 54 55+08 46 53)

A few things on my list:

1. 2MASXi J1330023+471654, a bright knot toward the end of NGC 5194'as connecting bridge to NGC 5195 (M51). I've put in several hours of trying to see this little goober over the past few years but so far no luck.
2. The lensing galaxy in the Double Quasar (QSO 0957+561 A/B).
3. More than three members of Hickson 50.

I see NED list the 2MASXi J1330023+471654 as a infrared source. I looked at a Hubble Image and the SDSS image of 2MASXi J1330023+471654 AKA (Howard's little goober) :D and it sure looks to me to be a background galaxy. I have below the SDSS image of the "Little Goober" and it is the same color as other background galaxies. What do you and others think it is?

It must be a galaxy. Look at it in this image:

It doesn't have the same color as the HII regions in M51, at all. It looks like an irregular starburst galaxy to me. That doesn't make it any less interesting to observe!

I originally thought it was an HII region but just recently have started to think it's a background galaxy too. And I like calling it a Little Goober - it's fun to say!

I will send a query to Bill Keel at the University of Alabama about 2MASXi J1330023+471654 "Little Goober". He has lots of experience with overlapping galaxies in the SDSS. It will be interesting to see what he says about it.

It looks like its a collisional ring galaxy in this image to me.

When the tough clouds and the bulks of snow here in southern Germany will ever break up than I will try for example:

- resolving B1422+231 (lensed Quasar in Bootes)
- outflows of IC 883
- OC Pfleiderer 2
- hook of UGC 10402
- ring of CGCG 180-23 (PGC 25211)
and so on :D

I have spent a lot of time on IC 883 from my experience the faint wider stream on the west side is easer to see than the brighter looking narrow stream on the east side. This has been confirmed by several other observers.

Thanks for the information Jimi - thats why a love this forum :)

It really looks like the E stream seems to be much brighter, but perhaps to small to resolve - the superthin galaxies phenomena? I will definitely report.
