The area around NGC 507 is a wonderful playground for galaxy hunters. I could recall two old S&T articles (one by Steve Gottlieb) mentioning the many galaxies in this area, so I decided to check the area out. My usual practice is to have a "first look" in the area, and then read about it, in the second attempt searching for obscure / difficult targets that may lie hidden... In the case of this area there were many galaxies! Literally, wherever I pointed the scope I could pick up some galaxies. I chose the field that seemed most interesting and went ahead to sketch. At home, I identified the galaxies I had fished out. The articles and Megastar indicate that I missed a couple of the smaller galaxies, but the seeing being somewhat bad I might have mistaken them for stars... In any case you can see NGC 494, 503, 504, 507, 508, and IC 1687 and 1690...
