Recently at the 241 AAS meeting January 8th to the 12th it was announced the new find of the closest pair of super massive black holes in a galaxy. The pair of AGN’s were found in the late merger galaxy UGC 4211. The two monsters were found to be feeding only 750 light year between them. UGC 4211 is only 480 million light year away from us.

I have not observed the galaxy yet but it is high on my list. I do not usually post a OOTW unless I have observed it before but this late merger and duel AGN nucleus are very interesting and unusual and I wanted to bring it to the attention of my friends on DSF. I do not think it will be possible to see the two nucleus in the galaxy but you never know unless you try. Seeing the galaxy with the nearest pair of supper massive black holes is still Way Cool in my book.
