I have recently started a new observing project. I am collecting multiple galaxy mergers. They must be three are more galaxies interacting or merging. I have collected so far 116 groups. If you know of any groups that fit this profile please PM me. I would appreciate any suggestion that you might know of.

IC 1015 was found by Stephane Javell on June 28th 1892 with the 30" refactor at Niece. This is the same Javelle that reported seeing a light on Mars in the August 1894 Nature.

I recently observed this small triple crash and two of the cores were stellar bright and I could see the wisp of the tidal tails @610X. I did have trouble seeing the galaxy core in the center galaxy. This small group was locked in a cosmic dance and most pleasing in the eyepiece.

Cool group Jimi! I haven't seen it yet but it's on my list now - can you post the list of 116 triple or more mergers? This sounds like my cup of tea!

Hey Jimi,

I was able to take a peek at IC 1015 last weekend, but the seeing was so poor there was no hope to see anything but a small, fuzzy blur. I'll give it another go at the OSP in a couple of weeks with hopefully better results.

I was able to get a better look at IC 1015 at the OSP a couple weeks ago. Through the 28 inch scope I was able to see an overall shape that was rather like a stylized letter "z" or "f", depending on the orientation. I was able to see two of the three galaxy cores and one bright spot in the middle, which be the third core, but it wasn't nearly as bright as the other two. Overall, this triple merger is a small, faint beast and it took 605x and patience to see as much as I did. It was pretty low in the west as soon as it got dark, so I think there's a good chance to get a better look next spring or early summer. This is a good one!
